About

What is Green Commons?
Green Commons is an online forum for promoting the visibility and growth of the Green Party of the United States through independent commentary, organizing and networking by its members. Non-Greens are welcome to participate (see below).
The website GreenCommons.org was started after the 2005 national annual meeting in Tulsa Oklahoma, where the nature and affect of Green blogs was discussed in the context of the emerging political "netroots" phenomenon.
The mission of Green Commons is to provide space and resources to independent Green voices within the United States, for the purpose of building, promoting and improving the Green Party through vigorous, passionate and respectful dialog. We welcome participation by non-Greens, as long as it is done in the context of the site's mission.
Green Commons as a broader network of Green activists, bloggers, candidates and organizers is just getting started. Like the rest of the progressive left, we are finding ways to use technology to advance our values and policies, but must remain mindful that online activism is just a small part of the work needed for fundamental change in our government and culture.
