That sound you hear
Submitted by kycolonel on Sun, 02/24/2008 - 10:33am.the one that sounds like watermelons smashing on the road...is the sound of Daily Kos sockpuppets' heads exploding. Ralph Nader just tossed his hat in the ring of the presidential election on Meet the Press. No word though on whether he would do so as a Green.
For the record, I thought Mr. Nader hit a home run in terms of framing the issues which should affect the upcoming election. This assessment should not be confused as an endorsement. At this point, I'm admittedly somewhat perplexed. With the election approximately eight months away, where does this leave Greens?
A natural green party constituency
Submitted by kycolonel on Sun, 01/13/2008 - 11:48am.Does it exist? If so, what is its primary source? The answer to the first question is obviously yes. Proof of this can be found in the number of local offices Greens hold; however, the answer to the second question is somewhat more elusive. Sometimes it's easy for all of us to get caught in the trap of assuming that simply attracting enough self-styled progressives from the Democrats is the yellow brick road. Although getting this lot to wake up and smell the coffee is definitely part of the mix, recent polling data suggests that Green horizons may be somewhat broader than most think.

Cynthia McKinney on the Environment
Submitted by kycolonel on Mon, 12/31/2007 - 8:48pm.Allow me to be the first to say Happy New Year to all commoners! I think this one is going to be interesting as the Green Party attempts to grow and become a viable alternative to the corrupt corporate parties which represent the current corporate dominated oligarchy commonly misrepresented to us as our "two-party system."
On to the main topic of this entry. I was somewhat amazed when I checked former Congresswoman McKinney's Wikipedia page to find that their was virtually no mention of her past stellar defense of our environment. Obviously, we've got some work to do so lets get down to it after the break.
more proof americans are increasingly turning away from the coporate parties
Submitted by kycolonel on Sun, 08/05/2007 - 2:36am.Morning y'all. Two stories released last week show an increasingly clear trend I've pointed out in prior posts in this forum - Americans are gravitating away from the corporate parties. On another note, a poll taken here in the commonwealth concerning the illegal occupation of I-wreck produced rather uncommon results.

what a Hillary Clinton nomination means to Greens
Submitted by kycolonel on Sun, 07/29/2007 - 2:55am.In the first place, it bursts the bubble of those who claim that running a woman as our candidate is mandatory. Secondly, I'm assuming that Senator Obama will be the choice for Vice President. While this ticket would represent a historic first in American politics, does it mean that significant and meaningful progressive change is in the wings?
I'm extremely skeptical. More below the fold.

Most of what individuals can do begins at home which is exactly why Al Gore's twenty-room mansion complete with gas lights and a heated pool isn't just a Repug talking point. Clearly, there's a double standard involved; nevertheless, installing a tankless water heater will put you on the road to walking the walk.
