Really want to fight global warming?
Submitted by kycolonel on Sun, 07/08/2007 - 1:42am.Unlike yesterday's wasteful and energy-intensive Live Earth concerts or Al Gore's $30,000 utility bill over the last two years, I've got a sure winner for you this morning - a free tankless water heater.
Check it out below the fold.
Sunday Morning Smorgasbord
Submitted by kycolonel on Sun, 07/08/2007 - 1:02am.Much to talk about this morning but first I'd like to take a moment to congratulate Ms. Venis Williams on winning her fourth Wimbledon title. Although not as athletically gifted as her sister Serena who forms the other half of perhaps the most dynamic sibling duo to ever hit the court, she's definitely the more graceful and gracious of the two. Her win yesterday capped a comeback worthy of the greatest champions in all sports and established her as one of the best to ever play on England's famous grass courts - Well done.
On to more pressing matters which have a greater direct effect on our daily lives below the fold.
That Didn't Take Long
Submitted by kycolonel on Sun, 07/01/2007 - 3:22am.In the past, I've expressed skepticism in this forum over the potential role ethanol could play in this nation's future energy policy. Well folks, it appears that the party is already over. The only problem is that the corporate parties and their supporters just don't get it.
yet another reason not to trust the other corporate party
Submitted by kycolonel on Sun, 06/03/2007 - 4:57am.There are a couple of bills which have been introduced in Congress (S. 154 and H.R. 370) which are uglier than the devastation left behind from a West Virginia mountaintop removal. Both bills would promote coal to liquid fuel technology which will increase the production of greenhouse gasses released into the atmosphere and you might be surprised who's providing the fuel to make coal the king of alternative fuels at the expense of your environment.
A Couple of Recent Polls to Chomp On
Submitted by kycolonel on Fri, 06/01/2007 - 11:55pm.I covered some of the latest polls this evening. I found one Democrats have to hate and one Greens who disagree with the Colonel about qualifications of potential presidential candidates will love.
More below the fold folks.
Food For Thought
Submitted by kycolonel on Mon, 05/28/2007 - 6:52am.There's absolutely nothing which would prevent Greens from flooding the Unity08 website, capitalizing on their team's outstanding promotional work and getting somebody we could accept on the ticket.
The Best Democrats Money Can Buy
Submitted by kycolonel on Sun, 04/15/2007 - 1:39am.We've all heard the numbers from the first quarter of bribe taking - Senator Clinton, $26 million and $25 million for Senator Obama. What most people don't realize is that, for the first time in the modern political era, presidential candidates of both corporate parties are largely expected to forego federal matching funds.
Aside from the impact of larger corporate contributions having an even greater influence on our political system than is presently the case, where's this leave us?
There is No Dispute About Global Warming
Submitted by kycolonel on Fri, 07/28/2006 - 1:43am.I'm on record as stating I believe global warming and the problems associated with climate change pose the most serious security threat this nation will confront in this century. In casual conversation, it's sometimes mentioned to me by others that there is disagreement among scientists about global warming.
This is unequivocally false. The fact of the matter is that there is a very loud near unanimous consensus among reputable scientists about global warming and the source of its cause. As we're reminded again today, the primary opposition referred to by misinformed individuals is a band of rogue think tank hacks on the payrolls of the energy companies.
Nearly Half of All Seats up for Re-election in the Indiana State Legislature Will Be Unchallenged
Submitted by kycolonel on Sun, 06/18/2006 - 1:04am.While this is extremely troubling, it's by no means surprising under the current circumstances. I've briefly outlined the rationale for this development and believe it's worth a look by Greens in other sections of the country. Although my general description of the cause is by no means comprehensive, I believe it contains many of the essential elements required to create a meaningful message for greater third party participation in our electoral process. It's short, compact and relatively easy to communicate - all necessary elements of a successful message in the modern political economy.
Just dropped in
Submitted by kycolonel on Thu, 03/30/2006 - 2:47pm.to make a small contribution from the change jug to keep the lights on at Green Commons and announce my support for Green candidate Bill Stant for Secretary of State across the river in Indiana. Due to Indiana's draconian ballot access laws which were specifically enacted to deny third party candidates ballot access, this is a race Greens cannot afford to lose. Y'all can view my full endorsement at my newly released personal blog. Your support for Bill and Hoosier Greens will be greatly appreciated.
Holiday Food and Libation
Submitted by kycolonel on Fri, 12/16/2005 - 3:19pm.We're entering the prime season for such things so I thought I'd take this opportunity to pass along some thoughts and secret family recipes to y'all. Bear in mind that as a southerner, my family's recipes contain portions of all four of the region's traditional food groups: fat, butter, sugar and salt. Nevertheless, these dishes are so easy to prepare that you'll have them in the fridge and the dishes done in an hour. Your guests will think you've actually gone to an effort but we know better and won't let the secret out.
This Bud is for Ken Sain
Submitted by kycolonel on Tue, 12/13/2005 - 7:05pm.Gone but not forgotten, Ken Sain was the original pioneer of the Green blogsphere. While I disagreed with Ken on a significant number of subject matters as they related to Greens, I always greatly respected his journalistic professionalism. It remains unmatched in the progressive blogsphere. Having said such, I'll take this opportunity to once again point out an instance in which his analysis was incorrect. In one of his final posts, he attempted to lowball the potential significance of the movie "Brokeback Mountain." Well folks, it turns out that Brokeback Mountain leads the Globe nominations and is positioned as a serious player for the Oscars. More below the fold.
The Failure of Proposal 191
Submitted by kycolonel on Mon, 12/05/2005 - 7:37pm.As most of y'all know, it was my intention to take a break over the holidays in order to concentrate on another project; however, the significance of this breaking Green news is too important to remain silent. I'm extremely thankful this evening that this proposal was defeated and take great satisfaction that it received even less support this time than it did in its original form as Proposal 180. More below the fold.
