The tweaker cometh

Update: The site will be down starting about 9pm EDT tonight. With luck, I can get things finished up by morning.

As administrator of this site, I've neglected Green Commons for a while. My apologies for that neglect, which is the result of not only stressful familial responsibilities, but also political frustrations in general.

It looks like I will have some time today and Monday, 5/26, to reacquaint myself with the site, check out the newer members, do a version upgrade, clean up the database and fiddle with the backend a bit.

A number of fixes and improvements are needed, but because of my long absence, I may not be aware of all of the problems being experienced.

So please use this thread to tell me anything you think I might not know. If we've discussed your issue via email, you do not need to repeat it here, unless you just need to vent :-) .

I'll need to take the site offline to do some of that, which will probably be in the PM on Monday. So please make your comments/suggestions now. If you want to contact me directly rather than post here, use the feedback form while we're online, and greencommons (at) gmail (dot) com when we're not.

This time I really mean to make the Organic Groups module work (those of you familiar with Drupal know what I mean, others can read about its features via the link.) When functioning, this gives the site a great feature: the ability to create groups of users for a common purpose. Each group gets a page with focused blog posts, as well as a forum for discussion. I think it would add a lot to the site -- so be thinking about how you might use this tool.

Also use this thread to let me know any ideas for how Green Commons can be useful in other ways to your local and state organizing. Be imaginative and fanciful -- brainstorm away. I don't guarantee to implement your idea in the next 24 hours (in fact I will guarantee that I won't!) but it will give us some direction for where to take the site in the future.

Thanks to all Green Commoners for your participation and patience.

Rena

and by the way, apologies are not needed by any means. We are all volunteers in this great democratic experiment, and none of us owes the other any explanation for what we do.

Please support Green Commons with a donation.
