Everyone Come to Reading Pennsylvania!!! Especially Candidates for GP Presidential nominee

Open letter to all who want to run in the race for GP Presidential nominee. I urge EVERYONE to come to the July 12-15th Reading Pennsylvania Annual National Meeting, most ESPECIALLY candidates for President or VP. If you're not going to bother to come to Reading, don't expect us to take you seriously, period.

Sisters and brothers,

I totally agree that the Green Party needs to incorporate video and audio technology to get our word out there more effectively and at a lower cost to the environment.

However I strongly disagree with your decision to not come to the Annual National Meeting. Sure it sounds cheeky and bold at first glance, as if you were doing something commendable. Nevertheless there is no substitute for face to face meeting. If you really want the party behind you, you need to come out and meet with the activists in the party who will be all in one place at one time (a very *efficient* way for you to get your message across)!

Frankly many Greens are actually quite unsophisticated when it comes to technology. I may not like that fact, but it is a fact. so to say to them that you won't come meet with them you'll just ask them to come to your web site pretty much tells me that you're not planning to make a serious go of it at all.

Best of luck on getting your message out and I sincerely hope you show good sense, by changing your mind and coming meet with us in Reading Pennsylvania July 12-15th. http://gp.org/meeting2007/ Oh, and come blog with us at http://www.GreenCommons.org!

Hello:

I am quite definitely doing all I can to be at the GP Annual National Meeting, July 12-15 in Reading, PA.

Being a very typical Green, I lack the means to travel. In fact I'm still seeking the 'day job' that the pundits will undoubtedly be telling me not to give up. :)

I've applied for some assistance from the organizers at ANM, but your support would be greatly appreciated also.

I won't belabor the point -- but I would like to invite you to visit my campaign website at http://augustson2008.us and view my positions. If you like what you see, then by all means give according to your abilities.

I'm pushing the Green Agenda *hard*, and I intend to push it all the way to Washington.

As always, you have my very best wishes.

You're running for the GP Presidential nomination for goodness sakes. Greens have this weird attitude that our candidates are somehow going to win with no funding whatsoever. Of course not!

Note that I have not chosen a candidate to support yet and until I do I'll stay neutral among the candidates. However let me take this opportunity to welcome you to GreenCommons.org and encourage you in your efforts to get our values and issues out there. IMO anything you can do to build up the Green Parties in the US is a good thing.

They will surely have a field day with this.

We have a hard time making ourselves credible. This would not be fielding a credible candidate. We should all do our homework before starting to be cheerleaders.

There are a lot of things that I want to know:

- Would Cindy Sheehan actually register Green and run?

- Would Cynthia McKinner actually register Green and run?

- Can Alan Augustun attract enough donations to make the trips he needs to make?

- I tend to like Kent Mesplay for reasons that I explained earlier. However, he need to mount a more effective campaign than he did in 2004.

The GP attracts people like this, because they think they have a better shot at gaining a mass audience with a smaller party.

Thankfully, we too have a process that will weed out the denizens of the Tinfoil Helmet Brigade. They must appeal to the State GPs to attract delegates, same as any other viable party.

As for the Democrats' dismissal of the GP, I think you realize that this is purely strategic -- it positions them as the only 'real' alternative, which of course they are not.

It's my hope to present a Green Party that is unified (though not uniform), eminently practical, and determined to win.
